I was expecting the Minato tribe members to get jumped, especially when they went their separate ways. People are gambling on the sport now and inflicting harm and murder is completely okay now under Ojiro's rule so it felt like that's the direction it was heading into.

The way Saori woke up Kamiya made a lot of sense, if you kill or injure people enough that they can't play, who will be left to play you in the future? Your strength won't mean anything and it'll become dull due to lack of competition.

What's Kamiki's issue though? Why does she dislike Aoyama so much lol? Does she think his presence weakens Ojiro or something?

It's not all about winning it's about enjoying the game

Honestly, if Ojiro just wants to breed strong people to fight, he should just bring back street fights and gang wars. “Baseball” is just a pretense at this point.

Seriously, it doesn't even seem like the games end with a win or loss more like there aren't enough players who can play so the game has to end.

The problem is that, based on his backstory, Ojiro was raised solely for the purpose of playing XB. He's pretty much blind to everything else, because XB is literally all he knows. Which is why Aoyama's goal is to show him that strength can be sought in other ways.

If anything, this is another Spike Chuunsoft series, after Akudama driver, that does not follow storytelling conventions. That "going to dine" scene would only had meaning if it resulted in an ambush. Was it subverted? Nothing indicates so.The main antagonist now merely "seeks power", just in a different way that his grandpa did.

They are producing "cool" series, but unlike Trigger they care not for integrity or quality of the narrative. Truly just works of entertainment without any pretense towards being works of art. Hopefully SC gets back to its Danganronpa roots soon.

I guess I was right last week about Ojiro turning super evil.
So he killed Tenshin because he wanted to make XB corrupt and ruthless, only to make XB corrupt and ruthless? Okay...

This week, as we're preparing for the big game between Minato and Chiyoda, would have been the PERFECT opportunity for Kazuki to tell Minato, and by extension the viewers, EVERYTHING! Sell us on the new big bad now that he is truly the big bad. What was he like before being adopted by Tenshin? What was the relationship like between him and Kazuki? What switch flipped in his mind to turn him to the dark side? He covets strength more than anything? Where does that come from? What kind of man is Ojiro, really? Kazuki more or less once again failed to deliver on that potential character development. Disappointing.

On the other hand, both Haru and Taiga are much different people now compared to the first half of the season, and I couldn't be more thankful for it. Haru couldn't stay the nervous cowardly wreck with a heart of gold forever, and Taiga needed to pull his head out of his ass and think about what's really important. We got glimpses this week that both have grown over this experience, and I expect them to lead Minato to victory by season's end!

So, not much happened this week, which I think after last week's chaos is perfectly fine, because at least now the plot is going at more of a pace compared to weeks previous. It's obvious we're in the endgame now, the last two episodes will most likely be this one game against Chiyoda
